Open Loop/Standing Column Wells many times will perform double duty as a water well for domestic supply. Utilizing a specially designed pump system and well configuration. Most of these systems use a variable speed pump system. Depending on your system design it may or may not include more than 1 well and/or a specially applied shrouding system.
Closed Loop Geothermal holes utilize the constant temperature of the earth to heat your home in the winter, cool it in the summer with virtually no maintenence necessary to own and operate.
Once a system is designed the hole(s) drilled contain loops manufactured of a polyethylene plastic that carry water and a non-toxic antifreeze solution into the home drawing the heat from the earth, condensing it and distributing it into the home the water/antifreeze solution is then returned to the ground to repeat the process again. There are no emissions and no fossil fuels are burned.
